Planted 60km from Beirut on the alluvial plains of the Bekaa Valley at the foot of Mount Barouk with an altitude that touches 990 metres, Château Marsyas’ 35 hectares of vineyards are steeped in history, dating back to the ancient civilisations. Owned by the Saadé family, Château Marsyas believes that ‘wine is rooted in the earth’ and staying true to this philosophy, Sandro Saadé works with the help of the world famous Bordeaux winemaking consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt to produce superbly elegant wines with a unique character. Château Marsyas Blanc is elegant with enticing aromas of honeysuckle, white peach and green apple. The oak ageing is well-integrated, adding complexity to the nose and palate. A crisp acidity cuts through the weight of the wine making this extremely pleasurable and a great wine for pairing with dishes such as Pasta Primavera or Salmon in a Herb Butter sauce.
The Red with intense aromas of ripe, sweet black fruits, including black cherry and blackcurrant, Château Marsyas Rouge is a complex and powerful wine. The palate is packed with the same rich, ripe black fruits, as well as liquorice, cocoa and a touch of earth, all balanced by a fresh acidity and supple, fine-grained tannins. Although drinking beautifully now, this is a wine that will continue to improve with age.
