Costières de Nîmes 'Les Enfants Terribles' Mas Carlot 2012
“The 2012 Les Enfants Terribles (55% Mourvèdre and 45% Syrah, aged 50% in small barrels and 50% in tank) looks to have outstanding potential. Dense ruby/purple, with hints of blueberry, charcoal, licorice, bouquet garni and acacia flowers, it is elegant, complex, rich, dense and best consumed over the next 3-4 years, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it last longer.” [2010 vintage] Robert Parker, Wine Advocate eRobertParker.com
Nathalie Blanc-Mares is in charge of this imposing 70 hectare property near Bellegarde in Costières de Nimes. Judiciously, several years ago she decided to plant some Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier. The result is the Mas Carlot range of exceptional white wines to complement some classic reds. Modern technology ensures the production of hugely enjoyable wines at everyday prices. Château Paul Blanc is Nathalie’s premium range named after her father.
Named after Nathalie Blanc-Mares’ four children, as well as the difficult growing conditions in the vineyards, Costières de Nîmes 'Les Enfants Terribles' Mas Carlot 2012 is rich and powerful with liquorice, blackberry, graphite and meaty notes. Well-balanced, yet complex, this is a very enjoyable wine to drink.
