Mondeuse Arbin, Domaine Genoux, Arbin 2013
Domaine Genoux, Arbin, Savoie
The Genoux brothers Daniel and André have winemaking in their blood. Their ancestors made wine in the Abymes area of Savoie as long ago as the middle of the 13th century and they themselves took over the domaine established by their parents. Now that they are getting older they have taken on a younger partner to help them work the vineyards as assiduously as they always have and feel that the business now has sustainability as well as a new lease of life. The domaine is farmed biodynamically, following the phases of the moon and eschewing the use of any synthetic chemicals, using only herbal treatments and natural composts. They grow Mondeuse for their reds and Roussanne and Altesse for whites, all indigenous to the area, planted between 250 and 350 metres up on the hills that tower around them. Their winery was installed in the Château de Merande, an historic local building, in 2001.
Light gold robe, acacia and honeysuckle nose, fruity, floral and citrus freshness. Rich, supple, mineral and balanced palate. Subtle notes of mint and fresh almonds on the finish, supported by the delicate bitterness of the High Altesses. Worthy of Anne of Cyprus, this beautiful bottle will become more complex after one or two years in the cellar,
Grape: 100% Mondeuse
