Sartène Rouge,Domaine Sant Armettu, Corsica 2014
Domaine Sant Armettu, Olmeto, Sartène
Established by his father and grandfather 50 years ago, Gilles Seroin is now the lucky owner of this 28ha domaine overlooking the Gulf of Propriano and the bay of Tizzano. Domaine Sant Armettu doesn’t use any weed killers or chemical fertilisers, allowing the wines to have real typicity. The vines are planted on terraces along the slopes, in soil of granitic sand and grown traditionally. Under these conditions, the vineyard is enriched by the beneficial influence of sea breezes and natural temperature regulation of the Mediterranean Sea, with the mountain backdrop.
Blend of Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu, Syrah and Grenache planted in 1964 on steep terraces of coarse sand and granite soils overlooking the gulf of Propriano and the bay of Tizzano in the Mediterranean Sea. The wine has a powerful personality, with intense aromas of red berries, leather, liquorice and game. On the palate, it is rich yet elegant with a persistent, fruity finish. The distinctive Domaine Sant Armettu Sartène Rouge 2014 is a classical expression of the region.
