Domaine Jean-René Germanier, Vétroz, Canton du Valais

Domaine Jean-René Germanier is located in the hamlet of Balavaud in Vétroz in the canton of Valais and covers 60 hectares in AOC Valais. The 40-year-old vines on average benefit from state-of-the-art viticulture that respects the environment. Gilles Besse, the associate oenologist believes that everything happens first in the vineyard. For this reason, he works with the most total respect for his land by sublimating the most beautiful indigenous grape varieties of the region (Fendant, Petite Arvine, Humagne, Cornalin, Syrah and many others...) thus expressing the ultimate quintessence. of this very particular micro-climate: Almost southern sunshine, cool temperatures and protected from icy winds thanks to the imposing alpine massifs. To achieve constant improvement, Jean-René and Gilles have also chosen to reduce the yields of their vines in order to obtain more concentrated wines. Gilles Besse is a curious man who is always working to improve and test new blends. Finally, we will end with a quote from Jean-René Germanier which perfectly sums up the philosophy of the estate: "a winemaker must distinguish himself not by a prestige cuvée produced in confidential quantities but by irreproachable quality across the entire range".

This sweet white wine has an "old gold" colour, a sublime nose of quince jelly, honey, candied orange notes reminiscent of cointreau and a hint of vanilla. A very expressive palate, where the alchemy of liveliness and a touch of bitterness contrast with the smooth, tender attack. On the finish, a caramelised flavour gives this wine remarkable aromatic persistence. The wine is matured for 18 months in new barrels. This contributes to the exceptional maturity and complexity of this wine.
