Domaine Marc Roy, Gevrey Chambertin
Standing in the heart of Gevrey Chambertin, this estate has passed from father to son for generations, yet the winemaking is now carried out by Marc's only daughter Alexandrine. She’s had a huge impact on the domaine, having previously spent time in other classic Pinot growing regions, such as Oregon, and New zealand. Although Alexandrine has no Grand or 1er Crus, her village wines are of a particularly high quality, coming from very old vines (70 year old for the Vieilles Vignes)
The Domaine Marc Roy Bourgogne Pinot Noir is sourced from a single block of 0.5 hectares comprising vines that are now 50+ years old and located in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Through minimal intervention and extraction, Alexandrine Roy allows her old vines to express themselves with immense depth of flavour and clarity. Ageing in one-third new oak her Bourgogne Rouge is a sublimely silky and plush expression that belies its modest appellation status.
Grape: 100% Pinot Noir
