Radford Dale “Gravity” Shiraz,Cabernet Sauvignon,Merlot, Ben Radford and Brit Alex Dale, Stellenbosch 2014

The estate is the brainchild of Aussie Ben Radford and Brit Alex Dale who crossed paths in Burgundy and later in South Africa. They eventually set up the Radford Dale estate in 1998 in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa. Ben returned to the Barossa Valley but Alex remains to continue the tradition of producing excellent wines from vineyards located in the Devon Valley (3ha) and Helderberg Mountain (4ha).

'Gravity' is a blend of 40% Shiraz, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot, the pressings from which are fermented seperately in old oak barrels. Once blended the wine is returned to these same barrels for a further 6 months ageing. The name derives from the estate's employment of gravitational pressing which leads to more integrated tannins.
