Primitivo di Manduria DOP ‘Giravolta’ Azienda Felline, Puglia 2013
Azienda Felline, Manduria, Puglia
Felline exclusively sources fruit from the very small Azienda Agricola Pozzopalo - one of the region’s most prestigious estates, wellrenowned for producing stunningly rich and characterful wines and located in Manduria, in the heart of Puglia. The estate owns 13 hectares of old Primitivo bush-vines, averaging 50 years of age planted on the prized local black soils. Gregory Perrucci is the supremo at Felline, who is passionate about enhancing the status of Puglian wines, using traditional methods and identifying the very best vineyard sites for growing Primitivo. The grapes reach optimum maturity, before being harvested by hand in the last 10 days of September. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel tanks, with ageing for 6 months in a mix of oak barriques (30%) and stainless steel tanks (70%). Gregory’s goal is to deliver the truest and finest expression of the grape in its native homeland.
Made from old-bush vine Primitivo with an average age of 50 years old, Primitivo di Manduria DOP ‘Giravolta’ Azienda Felline 2013 is packed with juicy blackberries, morello cherries, prunes, black pepper, chocolate, game, garrigues and nutmeg notes. Intensely aromatic, it's a real delight for the senses! Impressively concentrated and complex on the palate, this is a spicy, medium-bodied, personality-filled wine.
