Sato Wine, Yoshi & Kyoko Sato, Pisa Range, Central Otago

Kyoko and Yoshi met in 1998 at a Japanese bank, where they were working. After 12 years of work at the bank in Tokyo and London, they moved to New Zealand in 2006, aiming eventually to make their own wines and both studied for graduate diploma in viticulture & oenology at Lincoln University in Christchurch. Immediately after graduation, they settled in Central Otago and started their winemaking careers.

La Ferme de Sato refers to the range of small-production wine from 3.2 ha of vineyards owned by Yoshi & Kyoko Sato on the mainly schistose soils of the Cromwell Basin below the Pisa mountain range.

The name translates to "in the clouds," reflecting its high-altitude site.

Features intense dark cherry, strawberry, and rose petal bouquets backed by fresh acidity, mild spices, and subtle whole-bunch savory nuances. Medium-bodied with grainy yet smooth tannins and a long, elegant finish and high finesse.
