Château Monregard la Croix is part of the Bourotte family empire which has been producing wine for many decades in Libournais. They have seven chateaux altogether within a 25km radius of Libourne and the company is run by Pierre Bourotte with the assistance of his son, Jean-Baptiste. The vineyards are located on the right bank of the Garonne River in Libournais and the soil varies from clay-calcareous to gravel, through blue clay and iron pan. The very expressive Monregard la Croix is from a tiny 1.5 hectare vineyard planted with 25 year-old delimited Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%) vines. After fermentation in concrete vats, the wine is aged in a combination of new and used oak barrels for 20 months. Only 9,000 bottles are produced so availability is necessarily limited. is part of the Bourotte family empire which has been producing wine for many decades in Libournais. A dark purple in colour. Fragrant aromas of liquorice, coffee and plummy red fruits. On the palate, medium-bodied and ripe with supple cherry fruit flavours and a juicy texture. The tannins are firm and the finish lingering.
Grapes: 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc
