Domaine Jean Javillier, Meursault

Situated in the village of Meursault. There are 7.5 hectares in all (4ha red, 3ha white and .5ha Aligoté) and the estate has been registered as organic since 1972. Today the estate is run by Alain Javillier who inherited the estate form his father, Jean - the driving force behind the estate's conversion to organics. Yields are eye-wateringly low and fermentation is short (at an average of 12 days). Only naturally occurring yeasts are used and the wines are aged in old oak barrels for 12-14 months. 

Savory, classic Burgundy red crafted from Pinot Noir. Hailing from the prestigious "Les Caillerets" vineyard, this 1er Cru is known for its high-limestone, stony soil yielding elegant, delicate, and concentrated wines.
